Physical Therapist Assistant

Job Description

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions to patients with physical functioning disorders under the supervision and direction of a Physical Therapist. This role is essential in supporting clinical interventions through evidence-based practices while ensuring compliance with regulatory and clinical practice requirements.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes evidence-based practice to support clinical interventions.
• Administers various rehabilitative procedures including manual techniques, ambulation, therapeutic exercises, and modalities.
• Assesses patient progress and communicates with supervising Physical Therapist to adjust treatments as necessary.
• Documents treatment effectiveness and outcomes accurately in the clinical record.
• Provides consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers.
• Collaborates with health team members regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans.
• Participates in meetings such as patient care conferences and utilization reviews.
• Engages in required facility and company trainings and in-services.
• Supervises and supports students under the guidance of the Physical Therapist.
• Ensures adherence to APTA and State Required practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics during professional practice.

Schedule

This position operates on an 8-hour day shift, Monday through Friday, with flexible hours as long as they are consistent and communicated with the Director of Rehabilitation (DOR).

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation settings.
• Valid Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in Missouri.
