Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Intermediate Care Unit provides optimal patient care utilizing knowledge and skills within the context of the nursing process. The RN is accountable for individualized patient outcomes over the entire episode of care and provides comprehensive nursing services to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including their families/caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans.
• Implement nursing interventions effectively and evaluate patient progress.
• Administer medications and intravenous therapies as prescribed.
• Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to the healthcare team.
• Provide emotional support and education to patients and families.
• Coordinate care with other health professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of Intermediate Care (IMC) or Stepdown experience required.
• Medical/Neuro ICU experience preferred.
• NV RN license required prior to start.
• Current BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS (APEX) certifications.
• Experience with vasopressors, titratable drips, arterial lines, neuro stepdown patients, procedural sedation, thrombolytics, and tracheostomy management.
• Must pass an ECG/Telemetry competency exam.
