Job Description

The Cardiovascular Operating Room Technician plays a crucial role in surgical procedures within the cardiovascular operating room. This position requires expertise in handling instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary for heart surgeries, as well as ensuring stringent maintenance of the sterile field. The ideal candidate anticipates the needs of the surgical team and provides essential support during various cardiac procedures.

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgeries, ensuring a sterile environment.
• Assist the surgeon and surgical assistant with tasks such as sponging, suctioning, and holding retractors.
• Understand and anticipate the needs during cardiac surgeries, including coronary artery bypass and valve replacement.
• Maintain vigilance for patient safety and quality care throughout the operative procedure.
• Support in robotic and endoscopic procedures as needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an accredited school of Certified Operating Room Technicians.
• Certification required: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery (TS-C).
• Minimum of two years of prior experience in a similar facility.
• Competency in specialties such as robotic surgery, total joints, neuro/spine, and vascular surgery.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
