Travel Surgical Technologist - Open Heart Cases

8-hour shifts from 06:00 to 14:30, Monday through Friday. Call required.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Travel Surgical Technologist with expertise in first scrub for open heart cases. The ideal candidate will prepare the operating room, including the sterile field, and set up necessary surgical equipment, supplies, and solutions. During surgeries, you will pass instruments, fluids, and supplies to the surgeon while simultaneously managing the sterile field and specimens. You will also perform counts of sponges and supplies to prevent foreign retained objects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and ensure all surgical equipment is ready for use.
• Assist in the surgical procedures by passing instruments and supplies to the surgical team.
• Manage the sterile field and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Perform counts of sponges and supplies during the surgical procedure.
• Communicate effectively with the surgical team to ensure optimal patient care.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must be a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) following completion of a CAAHEP-accredited program.
• At least 2 years of surgical technologist experience, including previous travel experience.
• Expertise in first scrub for open heart cases is required.
