Registered Nurse - Med-Surg

Works 5 out of 6 weekends, Friday to Sunday, from 6 PM to 6:30 AM.

Job Description

Under limited supervision, provides direct patient care, plans, directs, and evaluates total nursing care for Med-Surg patients. Relates effectively with other shifts for continuity of care and maintains satisfactory relations with other departments.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care and administers medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly.
• Maintains accurate and complete documentation and reporting.
• Communicates effectively with staff and informs them of patient needs and problems on the unit.
• Conducts evaluations of patient/family responses to the nursing care plan and modifies it based on these responses.
• Participates in the orientation and in-service training for personnel.
• Supports and enforces infection control policies and procedures.
• Maintains professional patient confidentiality and fosters a supportive working environment.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Iowa licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience.
• Healthcare Provider BLS certification is required.
• ACLS certification is preferred.
• Mandatory Abuse Reporter Certification within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English proficiently.
