Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Laboratory Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to work in a clinical laboratory environment. This position involves performing a wide array of laboratory procedures across all departments, exercising independent judgment, and collaborating closely with supervisors and coworkers to ensure the highest quality of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory procedures and evaluations in various departments.
• Participate in specimen collection and ensure proper handling of samples.
• Analyze patient samples with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
• Communicate abnormal results to clinicians promptly.
• Perform instrument maintenance and troubleshoot any issues.
• Engage in quality control and performance evaluation of test results.
• Educate patients and coworkers on correct specimen collection procedures.
• Assist in training and orienting new staff and students.
• Ensure compliance with safety and accreditation regulations.

Schedule

This position requires evening and night shifts, working (4) 10-hour shifts per week.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Associate's degree for MLT or a Bachelor's degree for MLS in clinical laboratory science or relevant fields.
• Clinical training in an approved medical technology program.
• Experience with Meditech and Roche Analyzers preferred.
• Basic blood bank experience (ABO, Rh, Antibody Screen, DAT, Xmatch).
• Experience working in a small hospital environment.
• Ability to perform venipunctures.
• Certification by ASCP, AAB, HEW, or AMT preferred.
