Laboratory Generalist with Phlebotomy

Job Description

The Laboratory Generalist will be responsible for collecting, processing, and receiving specimens across various departments in the clinical laboratory. The role requires proficiency in Epic and will include phlebotomy as part of the core responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Support and communicate laboratory initiatives and philosophies.
• Collect, process, and receive specimens, including blood, urine, fecal, and body fluids.
• Evaluate and address problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens.
• Participate in the evaluation of new techniques and procedures, including writing and revising technical procedures.
• Perform complex laboratory procedures, analyze deviations from expected results, and apply scientific principles to troubleshoot.
• Analyze quality control data, make judgments on results, and take necessary actions to maintain accuracy and precision.
• Respond to inquiries regarding test results, methodology, specificity, sensitivity, and influencing factors.
• Review instrument indicators and temperature monitors for all laboratory departments.
• Maintain self-competency in laboratory skills.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor's degree (or Associate's degree for grandfathered personnel).
• Certification as CLS or MT (ASCP) or equivalent.
• New MT graduates must pass the certification exam within 6 months of employment start date.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
