Job Description

The Laboratory Generalist will be responsible for collecting, processing, and receiving specimens, including blood, urine, fecal, and body fluids, to be analyzed in various departments of the clinical laboratory. The candidate must possess strong skills in Epic and must be able to participate in the evaluation of new techniques and procedures, perform complex laboratory procedures, analyze quality control data, and communicate effectively about test results and methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Collect, process, and receive specimens for analysis.
• Evaluate and solve issues related to specimen collection and processing.
• Participate in evaluating new laboratory techniques and procedures.
• Perform complex laboratory procedures and recognize deviations from expected results.
• Analyze quality control data and take appropriate actions to ensure accuracy.
• Answer inquiries regarding test results, methodologies, and factors influencing results.
• Review laboratory instrument indicators and temperature monitors.
• Maintain self-competency in laboratory skills.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor's degree (or Associate's Degree for grandfathered personnel).
• CLS or MT (ASCP) certification or equivalent required.
• New MT graduates must pass the certification exam within 6 months of employment.
