Job Description

Under the direction of the laboratory manager, the Medical Technologist is responsible for performing laboratory tests, quality control procedures, and communication with physicians, nurses, and patients.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory tests in chemistry, blood bank, hematology, and microbiology.
• Implement quality control procedures to ensure accurate results.
• Collaborate effectively with healthcare team members including physicians and nurses.
• Provide direction to Medical Laboratory Assistants as needed.
• Document and communicate findings appropriately.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related field required.
• Board eligible by NCA or ASCP, completion of board certification within one year of employment.
• 1 to 3 years of related or progressively more responsible experience.
• Certification as an MT by ASCP or CLS by NCA to be obtained within one year of employment.
• Familiarity with clinical laboratory instrumentation as a generalist.
• Must be capable of working independently.
