Registered Respiratory Therapist

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

36 hours per week, Day Shift (12 hour shifts), 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM, Rotating weekends and holidays.

Job Description

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for delivering high-quality respiratory care to patients through assessment, treatment, and education. As a vital member of the healthcare team, the RRT ensures the safe operation of respiratory equipment and coordinates care effectively.

Responsibilities

• Systematically gather and evaluate patient information to develop care plans.
• Assess and reassess patients’ conditions, statuses, and progress.
• Administer respiratory therapy treatments and manage oxygen therapy.
• Obtain arterial blood gas samples and perform quality control measures for pulmonary function and EKGs.
• Set up and assess mechanical ventilators, including BIPAP and CPAP units.
• Provide patient and family education on respiratory conditions and treatment plans.
• Document care plans, patient progress, and any adverse outcomes.
• Implement and monitor compliance with the VAP (Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia) bundle.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory Therapy program.
• Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (R.R.T.) by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• Licensed as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of Massachusetts.
• ACLS, NRP, and PALS obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Prior experience in a respiratory therapist role is required.
• Basic computer skills are necessary.
