Ultrasound Technologist
Schedule
This position requires four 10-hour shifts: Monday and Tuesday from 12 PM to 10:30 PM, and Thursday and Friday from 7 AM to 5:30 PM, rotating on call.
Job Description
The Ultrasound Technologist will produce two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs using ultrasound equipment. The recordings will be used by physicians for the diagnosis of diseases and the study of organ malfunctions. The role involves selecting equipment according to examination specifications, explaining procedures to patients, and ensuring optimal image quality for diagnostic interpretation.
Responsibilities
- Select and set up ultrasound equipment based on examination requirements.
- Instruct and assist patients in assuming the necessary positions for examinations.
- Operate transducers and adjust equipment controls as required for different examinations.
- Monitor the quality of ultrasonic patterns displayed on screens during examinations.
- Document patient information and test results in the computer system.
- Ensure all ultrasound images meet quality standards and include required measurements.
- Coordinate daily schedules and patient flow to ensure timely completion of exams.
- Maintain a safe environment and provide care that minimizes the risk of patient falls.
- Communicate effectively with patients, ensuring understanding and compliance during procedures.
- Review physician orders for accuracy before commencing examinations.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Graduate of an accredited school of Ultrasound Technology or Radiology Technology.
- Previous experience performing ultrasound procedures is preferred.
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registration in Ultrasound Technology required.
- AHA BLS certification required within six months of hire.
