Job Description

The Computed Tomography Technologist provides health care services by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. This role involves performing radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. The technologist exercises professional judgment and ensures patient care for successful procedure completion.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic radiography procedures.
• Corroborate patient's clinical history with procedures and ensure documentation is available for licensed practitioners.
• Prepare patients for procedures and provide necessary instructions.
• Operate radiography equipment effectively to achieve desired results.
• Position patients and equipment to demonstrate anatomical areas of interest while considering patient comfort.
• Evaluate images for technical quality and ensure proper identification is recorded.
• Assist licensed practitioners with interventional procedures and verify informed consent.
• Maintain aseptic techniques as necessary.
• Prepare, identify, and/or administer contrast media as prescribed by licensed practitioners.
• Initiate basic life support actions when necessary.
• Operate Computed Tomographic equipment and accessories, selecting appropriate protocols.
• Understand and perform venipunctures when required.
• Provide patient education and maintain universal precautions.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• OBMI and ARRT registration as a CT technologist.
• Current BLS certification.
• CRASE training preferred.
