Pediatric MRI Technologist
Schedule
Monday to Friday, 1 PM - 9:30 PM, with some flexibility as per unit needs. There are no on-call requirements.
Job Description
We are seeking a Pediatric MRI Technologist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have an Associate's degree in magnetic resonance imaging or radiology and is certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). You will operate the MRI machine efficiently, provide comfort to patients before and during scanning procedures, and collaborate with physicians to ensure timely receipt of results. Experience working with patients from neonates through age 18 is essential, as is the ability to provide age-appropriate care.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and safe scanning facility.
- Coordinate with physicians to facilitate diagnostic imaging.
- Prepare patients for scans and explain procedures to alleviate anxiety.
- Insert IVs when necessary, although IV placement is not performed onsite.
- Document all procedures while ensuring patient confidentiality.
- Perform patient care tasks as needed.
- Adhere to all MRI safety policies and guidelines.
- Adjust scanning parameters to accommodate various patient ages.
- Properly screen and prepare patients for scanning.
- Identify contraindications for safe scanning.
- Decide independently when a scan must be stopped due to motion or when sedation/anesthesia is required.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an MRI Technologist.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association only.
- Siemens scanner experience is required.
- Experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center.
- A minimum of 6 months of pediatric experience is essential.
- ARRT certification and a valid New York State Rad Tech License are required. Candidates who do not have this at the time of submission must obtain it prior to starting.
