Registered Nurse - Cardiac Step-Down Unit

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift, 36 hours per week (7 PM - 7:30 AM). Typically works every third weekend and one holiday, subject to change based on census and staffing.

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of three years of experience in cardiac step-down nursing. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the care of post-operative open heart patients, heart cath recovery, and the management of various cardiac drips. The RN will also provide care for other cardiac and medical-surgical step-down patients. In times of fluctuating census or staffing, the RN may be required to float to other units.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to cardiac step-down patients.
• Administer medications and manage cardiac drips as needed.
• Monitor patients recovering from cardiac procedures and surgeries.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Participate in patient assessments and care planning.
• Document patient care and maintain accurate medical records using Epic EMR.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of three years of experience in cardiac step-down nursing.
• Experience with open-heart surgery recovery, ventilators, and cardiac drips.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Proficiency with Epic Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
