Job Description
The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner responsible for coordinating and implementing patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. The RN ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit's standards of care. This role requires demonstrating performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization.
Responsibilities
- Perform initial assessments and establish priorities based on patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
- Reassess patient systems systematically to identify progress and trends requiring intervention.
- Develop and implement measurable individualized plans of care within established timeframes.
- Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcomes.
- Participate in health education and discharge planning for patients and significant others.
- Implement and document timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
- Evaluate the plan of care and perform various Point of Care testing procedures.
- Utilize effective communication strategies, promoting a positive work environment.
- Delegate unit work assignments appropriately and coordinate team assignments.
- Participate in the orientation of new staff and assist with special projects as assigned.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.
- Current RN license in the state of employment or compact license.
- BLS certification from AHA required.
- ACLS certification from AHA required.
- Knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population served.
Schedule
This position requires a schedule of four 10-hour shifts, from 06:30 AM to 05:00 PM, with weekend and on-call requirements.
