Shift: 3x12.0 - Includes DEN rotation, weekends, holidays, and on call as per unit need.

Job Description

The Adult Cardiac OR specializes in the care of patients undergoing various cardiac procedures, including CABG, TAVI, and heart failure treatments such as VADs, ECMO, artificial hearts, and heart transplants. The Surgical Technologist will be responsible for preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures and will assist the surgical team from the scrub position during operations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instruments and supplies for surgical procedures.
• Assist the surgical team during operations, maintaining a scrub position.
• Ensure proper care and handling of instruments.
• Facilitate room turnover between surgical cases.
• Maintain sterile technique and safe handling of sharps.
• Perform surgical counts per hospital policy.
• Handle solutions and pharmacologic agents under the direction of a registered nurse.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• NBSTSA Certification or 10 years of experience as a Surgical Technician.
• Two (2) years of recent experience in a cardiac operation room.
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association ONLY) is required.
• Ability to scrub and circulate is required.
• Operating room experience in a level 1 trauma center is highly desired.
