Job Description
The Registered Nurse is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. The RN ensures that quality care is provided efficiently and safely, consistent with the unit's standards of care. Demonstrating performance aligned with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization is essential.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and record initial assessments and establish priorities according to patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
- Reassess patient systems systematically to identify progress and trends that require intervention.
- Develop and implement measurable individualized plans of care within established time frames.
- Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcomes; modify care plans based on evaluations.
- Participate in patient and significant other health education and discharge planning.
- Implement and document timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
- Evaluate the plan of care and perform various Point of Care testing procedures.
- Utilize effective communication strategies for intended outcomes.
- Delegate unit work assignments appropriately to ensure completion of required patient care activities.
- Coordinate team assignments and adjust based on patient and unit needs.
- Participate in the orientation of new staff/students on the unit.
- Promote a positive work environment by demonstrating a supportive attitude to unit staff.
- Collaborate with others to achieve unit and organizational goals.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing.
- Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.
- BLS Certification from the AHA required.
- ACLS Certification from the AHA required.
