Job Description

The Physical Therapist assesses and treats neuromusculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory systems by physical or mechanical means to maintain or restore function that has been impaired by injury or disease, for pain management and for the promotion of mobility and health as prescribed by the referring physician. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the plan of care for the individual served, while performing and directing administration of all physical therapy modalities in collaboration with the patient, their family, and the interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Verify physician orders prior to evaluation.
• Evaluate each patient, incorporating psychological and physical issues.
• Complete evaluations and establish goals in collaboration with patients and healthcare workers.
• Administer and direct all Physical Therapy treatments and modalities.
• Communicate evaluation and treatment procedures to patients and families.
• Maintain contact with referring physicians regarding patient progress.
• Assemble and organize home programs for patients as indicated.
• Direct and oversee PT Assistants during treatments.
• Maintain records of all patient treatments and ensure accurate documentation.
• Participate in on-the-job training and maintain professional development.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current New Mexico Physical Therapist licensure.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• Education: Doctorate, Master's, Bachelor's, or Associate's Degree in Physical Therapy.
• Demonstrated skills in assessment, evaluation, and decision-making.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
