Respiratory Therapist - Night 4x12.0

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. The role includes evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, and explaining treatments, tests, and equipment to patients while providing necessary education upon discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive.
• Administer medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation through oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning of patients using various methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy and conduct routine chest x-ray reviews.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist with respiratory-related procedures as needed.
• Perform tracheostomy care and insertion/removal of tracheostomy tubes, ensuring adherence to policy.
• Execute arterial punctures and assess ventilation efficiency while documenting patient responses and treatment outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory testing policies and maintain quality controls regarding specimen handling.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Maintain and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment, including self-testing and preventative maintenance.
• Communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficiency and patient care.
• Accurately maintain respiratory therapy records and charging documentation.

Schedule

This position offers a night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts.
