Registered Nurse - Surgical Unit

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift, 4x12-hour schedule (18:45 - 07:15) with an expectation to work every other weekend and participate in a Storm Team or Hurricane Team if necessary.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Surgical Unit will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to adults undergoing surgical procedures or managing trauma cases. The RN will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes and safety.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret patients' vital signs and assess their condition.
• Administer medications and manage IV fluids, including blood products and cardiac drips.
• Provide care for surgical drains, central lines, and other medical devices.
• Implement isolation precautions and wound care protocols.
• Collaborate with the Rapid Response Team during critical situations.
• Educate patients and families regarding care plans and procedures.
• Participate in trauma care for patients with diverse diagnoses, including cellulitis, appendicitis, and trauma-related injuries.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of surgical unit experience.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Experience with surgical inpatient care, trauma assessment, and a variety of surgical procedures is preferred.
• Ability to manage dysrhythmias and administer vasoactive and cardiac drips is preferred.
