CT Technologist

Job Description

The CT Technologist is responsible for coordinating and participating in all computerized tomography scanning procedures. This role involves setting up, monitoring, and operating complex computerized equipment for diagnostic purposes.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and monitors computer operation of C.T. equipment per patient, transferring and positioning patients safely.
• Provides required patient identification and obtains vital information regarding known allergies and medical history.
• Prepares and injects contrast media intravenously as needed for examinations protocolled by the Radiologist.
• Makes and develops images for permanent patient files and records all studies on magnetic tape for future reference.
• Organizes the daily patient schedule in cooperation with the work-room technician.
• Maintains image quality by following department guidelines, including daily calibration and quality control of equipment.
• Responsible for electronic/digital image capture, storage, transfer, and copies.
• Monitors patients for allergic reactions and assists with emergency medical situations, including providing basic CPR.
• Ensures protection for self and patients according to safety standards and regulations.
• Maintains a clean working environment and ensures supplies are adequately stocked.
• Instructs new personnel as needed.
• Assists Radiologists and other physician specialists in specialized radiological procedures.
• Reviews and records pertinent patient history and clinical data to aid Radiologists in diagnosis.
• Maintains registry in accordance with regulatory agency requirements.
• Participates in quality assessments and continuous improvement opportunities.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of X-ray or equivalent experience is required.
• Traveler experience preferred.
• ARRT certification required.
• BLS certification required.

Schedule

This position requires an 8-hour shift with 5 days a week, totaling 40 hours guaranteed.
