Remote Utilization Review Registered Nurse (RN)

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Day shift: 5x8 hours (08:00 - 16:30); Flexibility required including weekends.

Job Description

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to perform utilization review in a remote setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in acute care nursing and be proficient in using Epic for charting. This role requires a commitment to upholding medical necessity standards and working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct utilization reviews and ensure compliance with admission criteria.
• Coordinate care and provide discharge planning for patients.
• Evaluate medical necessity based on evidence-based guidelines.
• Perform concurrent and retrospective reviews to assess patient care standards.
• Handle appeals and denials regarding patient care provisions.
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 3 years of acute care nursing experience, with charge experience preferred.
• Proficient in using Epic charting system; recent experience within the last 6-12 months is required.
• Experience with Medicare regulations and utilization management processes.
• Strong knowledge of InterQual criteria and case management.
