Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and assisting with patient transport as medically prescribed. This role involves evaluating patients and recommending appropriate treatment plans while explaining procedures and treatments to patients and their families.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed respiratory treatments using a variety of ventilatory and aerosol devices.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods.
• Monitor patients through oximetry and capnography, and conduct pulmonary function studies.
• Assist with respiratory-related procedures and perform tracheostomy care as necessary.
• Manage routine and emergency situations including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
• Document all treatments and outcomes accurately in patient records.
• Communicate effectively with the healthcare team regarding patient therapy and care.
• Maintain and test ventilatory equipment to ensure proper functioning.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Valid Respiratory Therapy license.
• Experience in a clinical or hospital setting preferred.
• Certifications in BLS and ACLS required.
