PACU RN Position - 13-Week Contract

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

4x10 hour shifts, primarily from 08:00 to 18:30, with one rotating late day per week from 09:00 to 19:30.

Job Description

The PACU RN will manage recovery for pediatric and adult patients in Phase 1 and 2 Recovery, specifically post-general surgery, orthopedic, gynecological, vascular, pediatric dentistry, and ENT procedures. This role includes collaboration with anesthesia and requires a focus on pediatrics for specific cases like dental surgeries and tonsillectomies.

Responsibilities

• Caring for patients recovering from surgery in a post-anesthesia care unit (PACU).
• Monitoring vital signs and managing pain relief through medications.
• Administering intravenous therapies and ensuring patient safety post-surgery.
• Preparing patients for transfer to inpatient care or discharge.
• Floating to pre-op as needed based on unit requirements.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in PACU required; strong ICU experience preferred.
• Active RN license in Maryland or compact state.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI.
• Experience with Epic charting system is preferred.
