CVICU Registered Nurse - Night Shift

Schedule

Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30).

Job Description

The CVICU Registered Nurse will provide specialized care to patients recovering from cardiac surgery, managing complex cases that may include fresh hearts, ventilated patients, and those requiring the use of advanced medical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patients post-operatively, particularly those recovering from open heart surgeries.
• Administer required medications and manage IV therapies.
• Utilize advanced equipment such as Impella, IABP, and CRRT.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Assist with the insertion and management of chest tubes, central lines, and arterial lines.
• Provide education and support to patients and families regarding post-operative care.
• Float to other ICU units as necessary based on patient needs and census.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of current CVICU experience or SICU experience with initial training in a CVICU.
• Active New Jersey RN license or Compact license required at the time of submission.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS are required.
• Must possess skills in managing post-operative open heart recovery cases.
• Experience with devices such as Impella, IABP, and CRRT using Prismax is essential.
