5x8.0 shift with availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, on-call, and callback per unit needs. This is a 13-week contract position.

Job Description

The Department of Sterile and Materials Processing is a state-of-the-art instrument processing and sterilizing facility. The Sterile Processing Department assists in the decontamination, High Level Disinfection (HLD), assembling, sterilization, and distribution of clean and sterile surgical instruments, trays, and pans. These functions are performed using advanced capital equipment. Instruments, trays, and pans are tracked by Getinge’s T-DOC barcode system.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instrument pans, procedural trays, and surgical case carts. Select appropriate packaging and sterilization methods.
• Operate steam sterilizers, check time, pressure, and temperature gauges to ensure proper operation.
• Perform simple maintenance on sterilizers and prepare cultures to ensure sterility.
• Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment following established procedures to prevent cross-contamination.
• Receive and store supplies from vendors, maintain inventory, and document stock received.
• Conduct quality assurance for all sterile supplies and instruments, performing daily checks and maintaining accurate documentation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Certified Sterile Processor (HSPA or CBSPD)
• BLS (American Heart Association ONLY)
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)
• Large hospital experience (500 beds or more)
• Travel experience of at least 6 months
• Two professional references from the last two assignments
