Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care through intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, working within the scope of professional licensure and with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, and educating patients on treatments and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using ventilatory equipment, oxygen devices, and nebulizers to administer medications, humidification, and oxygenation.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning using various techniques.
• Conduct monitoring and evaluations such as oximetry, capnography, and pulmonary function studies.
• Assist with respiratory care procedures, including bronchoscopy and tracheostomy care.
• Maintain mechanical ventilation on various equipment and perform set-ups and self-tests of respiratory equipment.
• Ensure accurate documentation of treatments and patient responses as per policy guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team members regarding patient care and treatment efficacy.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Experience with advanced respiratory care procedures preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
