Respiratory Therapist - Night Shift

Night shift: 3x12.0 hours.

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, offering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, ensuring compliance within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plans.
• Explain the purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients.
• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments operating various ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods.
• Monitor oximetry and capnography according to policy.
• Review patients' chest x-rays to determine need for further evaluation.
• Perform 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition.
• Assist with bronchoscopies, chest tube placements, and other respiratory care procedures.
• Manage tracheostomy care and perform arterial puncture as required.
• Document pertinent treatment information and patient responses accurately.
• Communicate with medical staff regarding therapy effectiveness and patient status.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging and equipment upkeep.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

A valid respiratory therapy license is required. Certification in BLS and ACLS is preferred.
