Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Unit

Nights, 12-hour shifts; 36 hours per week.

Job Description

The Medical Surgical Unit is a 28-bed unit catering to a diverse patient population involving general, vascular, bariatric, plastic surgeries, trauma, and stroke care. The role requires providing patient-centered care focusing on safety and quality outcomes. Nurses will collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Care Team, utilizing clinical pathways, patient education, and effective communication to address all aspects of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized written plans of care based on comprehensive assessments.
• Maintain knowledge through continuing education and professional development.
• Demonstrate leadership skills by acting as a resource and role model for colleagues.
• Communicate effectively using SBAR and promote interdisciplinary relationships.
• Exhibit strong time management skills and support team performance.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a straight Medical Surgical nursing role.
• Level II or I trauma experience is required.
• Active Michigan RN license required; provide verification through LARA and Nursys.
• BLS certification required.
