Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Unit

Days, 12 hours shifts, 36 hours per week

Job Description

This is a challenging and fast-paced position within a 28-bed Medical Surgical Unit focusing on patient-centered care. The unit provides care for a diverse patient population, including general and vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, trauma, and stroke management. We prioritize patient safety and quality care to achieve positive patient outcomes in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
• Conduct thorough physiological, psychosocial, and spiritual assessments of patients.
• Engage in lifelong learning through certification, education, and literature review to enhance clinical expertise.
• Demonstrate leadership by sharing knowledge and serving as a clinical resource and role model.
• Utilize effective communication strategies, including SBAR, to foster collegial relationships and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Exhibit time management skills to enhance overall team performance.
• Perform additional duties as required by unit-specific objectives.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a straight Medical Surgical setting.
• Level II or I trauma experience is required.
• Current Michigan RN license, verification required through LARA and Nursys.
• BLS certification (AHA) is required.
