Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by assuring that the nursing care plan is effectively followed. The RN will supervise Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop an individualized plan of care.
• Identify teaching needs and goals through collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide timely patient information during conferences and ensure accurate documentation of assessments and interventions.
• Participate in the patient rehabilitation program and educate patients/families based on their health care needs.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from day of admission.
• Communicate pertinent information regarding changes in patient status to support continuity of care.
• Supervise ancillary nursing personnel and delegate tasks appropriately.
• Maintain personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies.
• Contribute to a positive work environment through team building and effective communication.
• Assume charge responsibility following the orientation period as requested.
• Pursue professional development through continuing education and self-study.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required before first shift.
• ACLS certification required prior to first shift (CIRH only).
• Minimum of two (2) years bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
