Job Description

Med/Surge Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. Responsibilities include consulting and coordinating with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. The position involves preparing and administering medications, educating patients on surgical procedures, and providing bedside care for medical patients including pre- and post-surgery care.

Responsibilities

• Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
• Prepare and administer medications through various routes and record administered medications.
• Report adverse reactions to medications or treatments as per policy.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures and post-treatment care needs.
• Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
• Monitor and adjust equipment used on patients, interpreting electronic displays and initiating corrective actions as necessary.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs as needed.
• Assist physicians during examinations and treatments.
• Participate in discharge planning and utilize time management skills in patient care.
• Document all care information concisely and accurately in a timely manner.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must possess valid ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications (American Heart Association).
• Current RN license in Wyoming or Multi-state RN license.
• Experience in a community hospital setting preferred.
• EMR experience is required.
