Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM, with call/lates and weekend requirements.

Job Description

The Surgical Assistant (SA) works under the direct supervision of the surgeon, maintaining clinical competence in pre-operative assessment and intraoperative proficiency. The SA should demonstrate knowledge in surgical anatomy and physiology, operative techniques, and principles of asepsis and infection control.

Responsibilities

• Assist effectively in all surgical specialties.
• Participate in room turnover and demonstrate proper positioning, draping, and prepping procedures.
• Contribute to reducing surgical supply expenses by minimizing waste.
• Adhere to AORN Standards and Recommended Practices for Infection Prevention.
• Actively engage in the "Time Out" procedure on all surgical cases prior to incision, utilizing the Universal Protocol.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an accredited program in Physician Assistant/Surgical Assistant or International Medical Graduate.
• At least three (3) years of previous experience as a Surgical Assistant (SA).
• CPR certification required (BLS AHA).
