Psychiatric Nurse (RN) - 12 Hour Nights

Job Description

The Psychiatric Nurse will play a critical role in the formulation of patient care plans and active participation in clinical staffing and patient treatment review. This position emphasizes medication education and emotional support for patients and their families, with a focus on accurate documentation and patient chart management.

Responsibilities

• Input into the formulation of patient care plans.
• Attend weekly clinical staffing and review of patient treatment plans.
• Provide comprehensive medication education for patients and families.
• Report and document emotional and mental observations of patients.
• Conduct teaching and educational groups as per APU schedule.
• Train LPNs and MHTs on charting, vital signs, patient routines, and de-escalation techniques.
• Participate actively in a PI team or unit task force.
• Accept educational or marketing assignments as directed by the Manager.
• Maintain up-to-date Therapeutic Options certification.
• Serve as a positive role model for patients and staff through professional behavior.

Schedule

This position is for 12-hour night shifts, with 36 hours guaranteed per week.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• At least 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience (required).
• De-escalation training (preferred).
• Recent travel nurse experience (preferred).
• Nursing certifications: NIH and BLS (AHA) required.
• Active RN license in Oklahoma required.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
