Stepdown / Immediate Care Unit Registered Nurse

Schedule

Night shift: 3x12 hours (19:00 - 07:00), weekdays, with some weekend shifts.

Job Description

The Stepdown / Immediate Care Unit Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive care to patients with varying acuity levels. The nurse will work within a 1:4 patient ratio, flexing to 1:5 in emergency situations. Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patients in the stepdown unit.
• Administer medications and manage IV therapy.
• Perform telemetry monitoring and interpret cardiac rhythms.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members for comprehensive patient care.
• Provide patient and family education regarding treatments and care plans.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 1.5 to 2+ years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a medical/surgical or telemetry setting.
• 2 years of experience in a stepdown unit preferred.
• Current RN license in West Virginia or Compact license.
• Required certifications: BCLS and ACLS (must be via American Heart Association).
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips.
