Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality respiratory care services to patients in critical care and NICU settings. The therapist will ensure timely and accurate evaluations and treatments of respiratory conditions, collaborating with healthcare staff and addressing the needs of both inpatients and outpatients.

Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapy procedures as directed.
• Perform various therapy treatments including Aerosol Therapy, CPT, Incentive Spirometry, and M.D.I. therapy.
• Manage and troubleshoot BiPAP-CPAP therapy and related alarms.
• Conduct pulmonary function screenings, fit testing, and pulse oximetry procedures.
• Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator alarms for critically ill patients.
• Perform arterial punctures and quality control for blood gas laboratory services.
• Ensure oxygen tank safety and administer oxygen therapy using approved devices.
• Maintain accurate health records and collaborate with healthcare teams.
• Abide by department delivery standards while assisting in in-service programs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Up to three (3) years of respiratory therapy experience, particularly in critical care and NICU.
• Graduation from an accredited School for Respiratory Therapy.
• New York State Respiratory Therapy Permit or License required.
• Registered by the NBRC as a Respiratory Therapist.
• BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
