Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees, while committing to the organization's core values of safety and superior patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans.
- Identify teaching needs and goals related to each patient's diagnosis through collaboration.
- Provide timely patient information and status updates for team conferences.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program and oversee direct patient care, focusing on education and support.
- Initiate discharge planning from the day of admission and conduct patient teaching in anticipation of discharge.
- Ensure continuity of care through effective communication about changes in patient status.
- Provide direction and training to ancillary nursing personnel while managing workloads and priorities.
- Contribute positively to the unit’s functioning and participate in team-building activities.
- Maintain effective communication with management regarding service needs and resource availability.
- Assume charge responsibilities as requested after the orientation period.
- Engage in professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS required prior to first shift (specific to CIRH ONLY).
- Minimum of two years of bedside clinical experience is required.
