Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by assuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission, forming the basis of an individualized care plan.
• Identify teaching needs and goals related to patient diagnoses through collaboration with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team.
• Provide patient information and status updates for Initial and Re-evaluation Team Conferences.
• Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly in the medical record.
• Engage in the patient rehabilitation program while assuring direct patient care aligns with the nursing process.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
• Communicate changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care and safety.
• Supervise and provide direction to ancillary nursing personnel, utilizing effective problem-solving techniques.
• Maintain a safe and efficient work environment by promoting patient and employee safety.
• Participate in team-building activities to foster a positive work atmosphere.
• Assume charge responsibilities as requested and seek ongoing professional development.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification Required Prior to First Shift
• ACLS Required Prior to First Shift (CIRH ONLY)
• Minimum of Two (2) Years Bedside Clinical Experience Required
• Minimum of One (1) Year of ICU Experience Highly Desired
