Job Description

The competent Nurse practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care, focusing on long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing, making appropriate assignments and delegating to other care providers to manage the clinical situation.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addressees increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administers medications and treatments using the appropriate protocol; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of treatment prescribed.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (preferred)
• 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty (preferred)
• Current BLS certification required (AHA only)
• Current ACLS certification required (AHA only)
• Current PALS certification required (AHA only)
• Current TNCC certification required
• RN License in the state of TX or compact
