Job Description

The Neurointerventional Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing routine to complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under the direction of a physician in the Angio Interventional Radiology or Neuro IR services. Duties include extra-cranial and intracranial angiography, vertebroplasty, spinal injections, myelograms, cisternograms, embolizations, cryoablations, coilings, and clot retrievals.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for all IR and neurointerventional procedures, including discograms, aspirations, therapeutic injections, angiography, and ablations.
• Assist in neurointerventional procedures, including tumor, epistaxis, and spinal lesion embolization.
• Operate advanced imaging equipment according to established guidelines and imaging protocols.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and radiation safety practices.
• Instruct students and residents; perform preceptor duties when necessary.
• Perform quality assurance checks on equipment and maintain supply inventory.
• Utilize UHS information systems for IR scheduling online.
• Review coding procedures for accurate billing of procedures.
• Engage in continuous learning through lectures, seminars, and educational readings.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and hospital information.
• Comply with all hospital policies regarding incident reporting.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• ARRT(R) certification
• New York State license as a Radiologic Technologist
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross)
• Experience in interventional radiology and neurointerventional procedures
