Part-Time Med/Surg Registered Nurse

Job Description

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families. The RN assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patient’s episode. The Med/Surg RN develops specialized skill in the area of cardiac care, including telemetry monitoring. The RN is accountable for patient/family education to assist the patient and family in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient/family needs through active listening and analyzing data.
• Create individualized plans of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans based on patient response or changing conditions.
• Provide education to patients and families on self-care and post-discharge needs.
• Engage in quality improvement activities to enhance nursing practice.
• Administer medications and perform nursing interventions as needed.
• Promote a healing environment and build relationships with patients and families.
• Comply with infection prevention strategies and report safety risks.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• NYS RN Licensure Required
• Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS
• One (1) Year Experience serving in a Med/Surg Environment as a Registered Nurse

Schedule

Part-Time (2x12s) - rotational day/night variable shift (scheduled as needed by client), including weekends and holidays.
