Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and assisting with patient transport as medically prescribed. The role requires minimal supervision and evaluates patients to recommend appropriate treatment plans. Essential duties include explaining treatment procedures and educating patients upon discharge, conducting physician-prescribed treatments, monitoring patient responses, and performing necessary assessments and interventions in alignment with policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operates various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive.
• Administers prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation using appropriate devices.
• Performs chest physiotherapy and suctioning via oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods.
• Conducts oximetry and capnography monitoring, as well as routine reviews of patient chest x-rays.
• Performs 12-Lead EKGs and recognizes basic arrhythmias.
• Assists with respiratory care procedures such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
• Documents all pertinent treatment information and communicates effectively with physicians regarding patient therapy.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Must hold a valid respiratory therapy license and possess relevant certifications to perform required duties, including BLS and ACLS.
