Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN will supervise Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants to provide superior patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission and create individualized care plans.
  • Identify teaching needs and collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide timely patient information for team conferences and ensure accurate documentation of assessments and interventions.
  • Participate in the patient rehabilitation program, focusing on educating patients and families.
  • Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
  • Communicate pertinent information regarding changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care.
  • Provide direction and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel, delegating tasks appropriately.
  • Promote personal and environmental safety according to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Maintain open communication with management and staff about service needs and clinical training.
  • Assume charge responsibility after the orientation period as requested.
  • Pursue professional growth through continuing education and self-study.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
  • ACLS certification required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
  • A minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
