Schedule

Night shift, 12-hour shifts every third weekend. Block scheduling can usually be accommodated depending on current needs.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities. The RN will prevent illness and injury and alleviate suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN ensures compliance with all standards of practice and professional development as outlined by the New York State Nurse Practice Act and relevant policies.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely according to UHS Hospitals policy.
• Participate in and support the Nursing Shared Governance Model.
• Engage in professional development and complete all mandatory education requirements.
• Provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
• Perform duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of two years of experience in labor/delivery or high-risk OB.
• Current New York State Registered Nurse License.
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• NRP and FM certifications required.
• ACLS certification is preferred.
