Works 5 out of 6 weekends, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6 PM to 6:30 AM.

Job Description

Under limited supervision, the Registered Nurse provides direct patient care and evaluates total nursing care for Med-Surg patients. The role involves maintaining effective communication with staff for continuity of care and collaborating with other departments.

Responsibilities

• Provides the best possible nursing care by directing patient nursing functions, including direct patient care.
• Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates a high standard of courtesy in interactions with coworkers, patients, and visitors.
• Administers medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly.
• Keeps physicians, nurses, and other staff informed of patient needs and issues.
• Evaluates patient/family responses to the care plan and modifies the plan as necessary.
• Documents patient records accurately and in a timely manner.
• Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel.
• Supports and enforces infection control policies and procedures.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current Iowa licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience.
• Healthcare Provider BLS certification.
• ACLS certification preferred.
• Mandatory Abuse Reporter Certification within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well.
