Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Telemetry unit plays a critical role in providing optimal patient care through a comprehensive nursing process. The nurse is accountable for individualized patient outcomes, delivering care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and working collaboratively with families/caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for all assigned patients.
• Monitor patient conditions, interpret ECG rhythms, and respond to changes in patient health status.
• Provide advanced care assistance, including IV and Foley insertion, medication administration, and patient transport.
• Work collaboratively with ancillary staff including CCTs, ACTs, and other health professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Adhere to telemetry competency standards, ensuring high-quality care as per the unit’s standards.
• Float to intensive care units and medical-surgical units as required, based on departmental needs.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum 2 years of Telemetry experience required.
• NNV RN license required prior to start.
• Current BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS (APEX) certifications.
• Telemetry competency exam must be passed, including identification and measurement of rhythm strips.
• Experience with open heart surgical patients is preferred but not required.
