Job Description

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the LPN assists with nursing care for patients of all ages. The role includes participating in patient and family education, as well as collaborating with ancillary nursing staff to uphold professional nursing standards in the clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and perform treatments for assigned patients/residents and engage in other technical skills within LPN license and training.
• Participate in team conferences and provide input to the Registered Nurse on developing individualized nursing care plans.
• Report changes in assessment and observations regarding patients/residents to the Registered Nurse and accurately document these observations.
• Assist with emergency measures for any sudden adverse developments in patients/residents.
• Maintain nursing care standards and implement hospital policies and procedures, including patient/resident rights.
• Accept nursing care assignments and work collaboratively within the team, providing ongoing assessments of patients/residents as directed by the Registered Nurse.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2+ years of Long Term Care experience is required.
• Active Michigan LPN license as verified by LARA or Nursys.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Completed skills checklist pertinent to the specialty within the last year.
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years.
