Job Description
The Radiologic Technologist (RT) performs a variety of radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. The individual performs general diagnostic, portable, bedside, and Computed Tomography (CT) exams. The RT uses sound judgment and radiologic skills to obtain the highest quality images while keeping radiation doses to patients and personnel as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).
Responsibilities
- Reads requisitions to determine area of interest and refers to exam guidelines for necessary views.
- Utilizes practical knowledge of anatomy for proper positioning to obtain optimum image quality.
- Speaks with patients to ascertain pertinent history associated with requested exams.
- Assesses patient condition to ensure the best method of performing requested exams.
- Utilizes radiographic and CT equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information according to HIPAA guidelines.
- Reports equipment malfunctions to the supervisor or maintenance personnel immediately.
- Ensures compliance with safety standards at all times.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Successful completion of an Accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
- At least three years of imaging experience, including CT experience.
- Must maintain current Washington State DOH Certified Radiologic Technologist license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- ARRT (R) Registration.
