Job Description

The competent Nurse in the pediatric cardiac specialty provides routine and complex care, demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. This role requires the ability to manage contingencies of clinical nursing while continuing to develop professionally.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice.
• Administer medications and treatments while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients and family members.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• 1 year of experience in pediatric cardiac nursing preferred.
• Current BLS certification required (AHA only).
• Current ACLS certification required (AHA only).
• Current PALS certification required (AHA only).
• RN License in the state of Texas or compact.
