Job Description
The Catheterization Laboratory Technologist I plays a vital role in cardiac catheterization procedures, preparing the lab and operating essential equipment such as fluoro imaging and digital image acquisition. This position ensures accurate documentation of patient information and hemodynamic measurements while maintaining aseptic technique and patient safety standards. The Technologist I collaborates with the medical team to optimize patient care and departmental efficiency, serving as the radiation safety representative during X-ray usage and continually developing proficiency in specialized cath lab technologies.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the lab and ensure all major equipment is operational and documented.
- Participate in daily room checks and the stocking of supplies.
- Collaborate with the procedure team to ensure excellent patient care.
- Maintain proper patient positioning and safety throughout procedures.
- Adhere to aseptic techniques and organizational policies regarding patient safety and infection control.
- Support departmental initiatives and participate in process improvement projects.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Graduate from an accredited school of Radiology Technology or an associate's degree in a healthcare-related field.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred for pediatric facilities.
- Preferred certifications include Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or similar credentials.
- State Licensure required based on modality in Texas.
